Meet The SHY Aviation Team: Houda Amine

In this article, we’ve spoke with Houda Amine - located in SHY’s Dubai office - to discuss her career, her advice for those seeking a similar career, and how she helps keep SHY Aviation at the forefront of private aviation.

After studying computer science and management, I began my career in the UAE's hospitality sector before transitioning to aviation in 2015 as a Client Services Officer with a government operator. This sparked my passion for the industry, where I managed client requests and operated private jets and helicopters. Due to high-profile clients like the military, Crown Prince Court, Royalties, Presidents, and Co-Owner Royal family members, I learned how to be more dynamic and to communicate smoothly so I could provide the highest level of service.

In 2019, I joined Jetex Flight Support, where I planned clients' trips and handled operations for private jet flights and luxury experiences.

In 2020, I moved to Jet Luxe, overseeing operations for JetClub and supporting crew needs. My role was to look after the whole operation for both companies. For Jet Luxe, I took care of the flights booked by the brokers and the flights happening on the Global 6000. As for JetClub, my role was to look after the flights on the Honda Jet based in Europe and not only that, supporting crew with anything urgent like requesting meals from handlers was also one of my tasks.

Currently, as an Flight Management Executive at SHY Aviation since April 2022, I focus on European market operations, ensuring flight details are communicated and addressing any issues that arise to meet client expectations. From this, I’ve gained a deeper understanding about the European market, and the aviation rules and airport operations within Europe.

Working in the operations team can be described as a theatre – we run the show to go beyond the client’s expectations. It is a sequence of great communication between, us, the operator, the airport, the crew and more to make sure the flight is well arranged from start till the end.

The team here at SHY is great. I am located in Dubai and the communication between offices is always extremely regular and clear, making the operations team run smoothly. This seamless integration has allowed us to tackle projects efficiently and deliver outstanding results to our clients.

Team members are always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it's during brainstorming sessions or when providing guidance on challenging tasks—both professionally and personally. Overall, the synergy among the team members is a testament to our commitment to excellence and shared vision for success.

My personal strengths are my initiative, patience, flexibility – all learnt and developed from my time working in the aviation industry, as well as my passion for this sector.  

The jets that stick out to me the most are the Gulfstream 650 and the 700 – both are just pieces of art. I believe that they truly are the best business jets in the market, as well as the smoothest ones.

I strongly recommend this industry to everyone, there are so many roles to explore, and it truly is an industry that is so exciting. Every day is a new adventure, with new experiences and new lessons – you are able to develop skills for your professional life, but also ones you can use in your personal life.
